About

Bettina Akukwe is the Associate Vice President of Corporate Education and Economic Development at Alamance Community College. Bettina received her Bachelor of Arts in Education Studies and Germanic Linguistics, and her Master of Arts in Education Studies from the Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. She spent 11 years in educational research before relocating to the United States in 2018. She joined Alamance Community College as the Apprenticeship Implementer in October 2018, and became Department Head of Workforce Programs in November 2022, before moving into her current role in November 2023.

Bettina is passionate about workforce development, educating about modern manufacturing, and getting more women interested in the trades. Bettina is involved in several grant projects including Aligning the Workforce and Education System for Manufacturing (AWESM), the Alamance Juvenile Opportunity Bridge (AJOB), and the Duke Energy/Piedmont Natural Gas Community College Apprenticeship Grant. 

Bettina supports local businesses in short-term training needs and she is part of the greater Alamance County economic development team learning more about this exciting world. Bettina loves to be out in the community to connect and support.
