David L. Hursey brings a wealth of experience in public policy, strategic communications, and economic development to his role as Existing Industry Director for the Randolph County Economic Development Corporation. With a master’s degree in political science and middle east studies from the University of Utah and a bachelor’s degree in political science with an economics concentration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, David’s academic background provides a strong foundation for his work in economic strategy and stakeholder engagement.

David has held several leadership roles, including serving as Special Assistant to the President at the Salt Lake Chamber, where he secured millions in federal and state funding and spearheaded initiatives to support economic vitality during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also served on Utah’s Economic Response Task Force and led the Stay Safe to Stay Open initiative. Additionally, he has led strategic marketing campaigns as Public Affairs Manager at Strategies 360 and provided policy analysis and outreach as Sr. Advisor for Policy and Business Outreach during the Hatch for Senate Campaign.

In his new role, David is focused on strengthening relationships with Randolph County’s existing industries, driving business retention and expansion efforts, and fostering workforce development initiatives. He is passionate about building partnerships that enhance the county’s economic growth and success.
