Our base hotels are the AC Hotel Charlotte Center City and the Residence Inn Charlotte Center City (both located at 220 East Trade Street). The Welcoming Reception on Monday evening will be held at the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance.

Planning for the Future Now: Data Trends Reshaping Economic Development

Join us in Charlotte's Center City to broaden your economic development network and learn more about data trends. In a rapidly evolving global economy, economic developers must be willing to prepare today for the trends that will re-shape their communities in the future. This forum will explore the industry trends, in-migration data, economic mobility data, and much more that are reshaping the North Carolina economy and the work of the state’s economic development community.

Featured speakers include:

  • Leslie Boney - Director, Institute for Emerging Issues / Vice President, Outreach & Engagement with NC State University
  • Jess Stanford - Demographic Analyst with Carolina Demography
  • Carrie Cook - Charlotte Executive Director of the GreenLight Fund
  • Patrick McHugh - Senior Economic Analyst, Budget and Tax Center with the NC Justice Center

FORUM INFORMATION

A brief outline is posted below for planning purposes. The Airport Tour is currently at capacity, so registration is no longer open for that segment.

Monday, February 3

  • 1:30 – 4 pm: Optional Tour - Charlotte Douglas International Airport (currently at capacity)
  • 5:30 – 7:30 pm:  Welcoming Reception (Charlotte Regional Business Alliance)
  • 7:30 pm – Until: Dinner On Your Own

Tuesday, February 4

  • 8 am – 2 pm: General Session (Robinson Bradshaw - includes continental breakfast and lunch)
  • 2 pm: Forum Adjourns

Business casual attire.

LODGING DETAILS

NCEDA has a group block at both the AC Hotel Charlotte Center City and the Residence Inn Charlotte City Center. Both hotels are located at 220 East Trade Street, just a few blocks from the welcoming reception and general session meeting locations. AC Hotel reception area is located on the 5th floor, and the Residence Inn reception area is located on the 14th floor. The rate at each property is $159/night. The deadline to get our discounted group rate was January 10, but you can contact Liz (
liz@nceda.org) if you still need a room, and she will check with the hotel on availability.
