Partnering with ECU to Strengthen the Regional Economy

Join us on April 16 for NCEDA’s annual Eastern NC Regional Networking Luncheon in Greenville. In addition to great networking, the luncheon’s program will explore how East Carolina University can serve as a strategic partner for local economic developers and industry leaders working to strengthen and grow the regional economy. This session will highlight the university’s role in supporting existing industries, attracting new investment, and fostering innovation across Eastern North Carolina.

Participants will learn how ECU collaborates with business, government, and community partners to advance applied research, support industry problem-solving, and prepare a highly skilled workforce. The conversation will also highlight the university’s efforts to connect students with meaningful real-world experiences through internships, experiential learning, and industry partnerships that help meet evolving workforce needs.

The panel discussion will further explore key university resources, programs, and partnerships that can support economic development planning, business expansion, and long-term regional competitiveness. Attendees will gain insight into how stronger collaboration between higher education, industry, and economic development organizations can help drive sustainable growth and opportunity throughout the region.

Our panelists include:

  • Dr. Stephanie George - Interim Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology, ECU
  • Sharon Paynter - Chief Research Officer, ECU
  • Josh Lewis - President and CEO, Invest Greenville (moderator)

This event offers a valuable opportunity for anyone invested in the region’s growth and competitiveness to connect, learn, and explore how partnerships with East Carolina University can help shape the future of Eastern North Carolina.
